I started today of by getting my submissions ready for dropping off for the upcoming ‘Outdoors’ Show at Anton Art Center. This is a group show for five local art groups, including the Lakeside Palette Club, to which I belong. I chose to enter a photograph of my son which I took at the Detroit River Walk this past summer. He had such a great time that day. For my second entry I chose a ceramic seaweed sculpture. This one was one of my husband’s favorites. My seaweed sculptures are delicate and fiddly and I lost three of them last year to breakage. I still love making them even so, and this one was my latest in the series.

Later this afternoon after picking my kids up from school I checked my email to find that my sculpture “Antonio” was accepted into the Michigan Annual Show. This is a very competitive show so I feel quite honored to be chosen again this year. I love how my first full sized head sculpture turned out so I am very eager to get to display it in this show.

If you are in Southeast Michigan, the opening reception is open to the public. It will be Saturday January 27th from 2-4.
This evening I was back to the Anton Art Center for my pottery class. My chicken was ready for glaze and I hand-built a few new pieces. A great art-filled day for me, today.
