Today was another bitterly cold day here in Michigan. Tomorrow is set to be even worse – they have already canceled school for my kids. The sun was out and it was nice to see, even if it didn’t do much to take an edge off the cold. My face is burning from the wind blowing on it even though I try to cover up. But since its here to stay for the week I might as well draw a little inspiration from the cold and snow.
Years back, I took a watercolor class with my mom taught by an older and very experienced artist, Mary Reo. She had done a demo for our club and we loved her style. I haven’t done a winter watercolor like the one she taught in that class for quite a while so I thought I’d give it a go. While I like how it looks now, I may go back and add mor detail and depth another day. I can only do so much while its still wet.
As Much of the US is experiencing some pretty extreme cold, and I think very little of our world is immune to some pretty crazy weather of late, how has it inspired or changed your art?
