My daughter loves sharks and today is her half birthday. For Christmas my mother-in-law bought her a bracelet which lets her track a shark. Her shark is a hammerhead, so I’ve been thinking of painting her a picture of her shark, and today I felt inspired to give it a try. I used my gouache again on this painting. I’m still using them more like watercolors so I tried to go back and add more layers this time. I am tempted to keep going, but my daughter likes how it looks now so I decided to stop here.

I think this is the first shark I have painted. Since my kids love sharks, maybe I’ll paint a series of different types of sharks. My daughter talks about sharks enough around my phone, I get a fair amount of shark videos on my instagram feed. Might as well use the targeted advertising to fuel my art practice.
