I decided that I am enjoying the challenge of loosening up my watercolor paintings and decided to continue my floral theme this week with a loose lilac rendition.
The loose style is still a challenge for me. I have never been a fast painter- truthfully fast has never been an adjective used to describe me. My first grade teacher would write “Pokey Jackie” on the chalkboard each day because I was always the last one done. I took so long that my paper would dry and I’d need to respritz with my spray bottle, creating unexpected movements.
Once it dried I went back and added some small details- something that I think is needed in yesterday’s dandelion painting now that it’s all dry and I’ve had time to ponder it.
Do you enjoy the unpredictability of adding water to your in progress paintings, or does it stress you out?
