I decided to paint my kitty, Valen, today. He was a pretty cooperative model and let me take several photos of him as he lounged. He even slow blinked on demand so I could decide whether to paint him with his eyes open or closed.
I go pretty absorbed into this painting and ended up spending more time than I allotted, but I’m going to finish it another day. I really like how it’s starting, but he looks like a beautiful white cat, but not quite Valen. I think I need to make his face a little fatter.
I’m also trying to paint with a limited palette and have gone with red, green and purple. Since I have no premade purple I mix up my own shade with the red and blue so technically I’m using green, red and blue, I guess.
I haven’t had much practice painting animals, but the lion I painted last week seemed to be really popular so I figured it was time to paint my kitty.
Do you find it easier to paint animals or people?
