One of the favorite places our club visits each summer for our paint-outs is the Nature Center at the Lake St. Clair Metropark. They have a plethora of taxidermy animals and birds that they put out for us to draw. I made several sketches in my sketchbook this past summer, but I also took pictures so I can do more paintings with them later.

This barn owl is one of my favorites, and I decided to paint him in watercolor. I added a background and embellished the branch on which he was perched.
I am happy with the results, and may do a few variations of this barn owl on various sized paper. This one I used 4×6 inch 120 pound paper. Once my new pack of 300# cotton rag arrives, I’ll use that for my next variation.
Do you go back and repaint your paintings in a larger format or with higher quality papers?
