I joined some of my art club members this morning for our studio time at the adult ed building. I decided I’d like to work on a portrait. I found a photograph of my youngest eating an ice cream cone. He was mid lick in the photo and was looking up and to the side, so I thought it would be a fun challenge.
I thought I did a pretty good job of translating this from photo to watercolor, but my husband and son were not big fans of this painting. Everyone’s a critic. Lol.
I really should work on more portraits. I can definitely see my improvement from portraits done a few years ago, but I still have plenty of room for improvement.
Do you paint portraits from photos or live models?
