Today I am feeling a bit under the weather, so rather than pull out my paints I decided to play around in photoshop with some of my recent watercolors. Often I use photoshop to create my composite photographs, but today I stuck completely to my watercolor images. First I used my Apple and Two Pears watercolor along with the Abstract Garden paintings I shared on this blog previously. I go through several steps, applying filters and effects to the layers until something pops. I like how different a feel this has from the original paintings.

For my next piece I decided not to layer multiple images, but rather alter the painting into a completely different feel. The original painting is pleasant, and I do love birch trees, but I thought it could use a bit of an interesting twist. After tweaking the colors for a bolder look, I warped the image, creating a surreal, trippy feel to the trees. It reminds me of something from a dream.
Have you ever used photoshop to create a new art from an old painting?
