Elisabeth and Marta, Jacquelyn Block

Today I missed my morning zoom due to a combination of inclement weather making my dive much longer to drop my daughter off at school and the fact that I needed the extra time to work on my screenplay for the contest I am entering.

My genre for the screenplay this round is historical fiction so I have painted my two main characters for tonight’s artwork. I have been mulling the story around in my head, but the scriptwriting app I had been using kept crashing so I started fresh this morning with a new program that is working much better.

This is the second scriptwriting contest I have entered, and my fourth short screenplay. It’s definitely getting easier and this will be my longest script to date. I am going to hit the 12 page maximum on this one, I think.

I realized the time as I was researching what my characters should be wearing to an evening event so I thought it would make a good theme for today’s blog post. I feel like a kid again with those fashion plates the you’d do the rubbing and then color in the clothes.

Have you ever written a screenplay or entered a writing competition?
