Minor Expression, Jacquelyn Block

My son is home from school this week, but so far our weather hasn’t been great for playing outside. He is a very energetic six year old and I woke this morning with a terrible headache. Luckily my sweet son tried to keep his volume down to a manageable level for me and I was able to tamp down the pain with meds.

One of the things that he is interested in is music, and we have several instruments for him to play with. I’ve been teaching him a little about reading music, and thinking on that inspired tonight’s abstract piece.

It may not be the most refined piece I’ve made lately but not bad for a piece made with a throbbing headache. I like how the drips made their own paths even though I had got them started. It is fun for me when there is a bit of unpredictability and surprise in my artwork.

Do you allow for serendipity in your art or do you prefer to keep things under control?
