Today I wanted to do another in my orange ink flower series so I chose hyacinths. I’m trying to use the flowers I’ve been seeing blooming around me. As I continue the series, new flowers will appear to continue to inspire me to paint these throughout this spring and summer.

I’ve always liked hyacinth. I remember one year when I was a child, my grandmother gave me a hyacinth plant for Easter. It was so beautiful and when it faded my mom had me plant it in the garden and I got to enjoy the blooms again the next year too! It may have been this plant that cemented purple as my favorite color. I remember admiring how pretty of a purple the flowers were and how wonderful I felt looking at them. That’s the earliest memory I have of loving the color purple.
