Daffodils in Spring, Jacquelyn Block

Today was World Art Day. In honor of the day I tried to pay more attention to my surroundings with an artist’s eye, taking in the details of my surroundings. I observed the way the dew drops on the grass tips reflected the morning light, I observed several species of birds at work in my yard. I noticed the variety of colors in the fur of the squirrels playing in the backyard. I watch the mother mourning dove watch those same squirrels as she kept her eggs warm beneath her. I stopped and peered into the daffodil blooms.

Those daffodils I passed walking back to my car after dropping my son off at kindergarten are what I settled on painting in my latest orange ink series piece. I tried looking for another of these orange brush pens, but it appears this was an exclusive and I haven’t found anything quite like it to continue once I exhaust the ink from my current pen. Then it will be time to move on to something new. It’s quite likely that I’ll move on before I’ve used up this pen so no worries for now.

Have you fallen in love with an art supply that you can no longer find?
