As I drive around my neighborhood there are countless dandelions in various stages of blooms. All this April rain has been good to this resilient flower. I have the plants popping up in between the cracks in my driveway and along my house, no sooner do I uproot an inconveniently located flowers another takes its place. I do love them when they take over the grass of my yard. We try to delay our first more as long as possible, balancing the good of the local wildlife with the avoidance of citation from the city.
So our yard is currently peppered with yellow, but interestingly our neighbors house has the seed stage flowers ready to grant wishes with a child’s breath. This dichotomy of the stages so close together inspired today’s painting. I was hoping to get to bed early but in typical fashion I spent more time than anticipated on these dandelions.
Did you notice in yesterday’s painting I painted faint leaves in the background that are not traced around in the orange ink- and can you spot today’s variation?
