Floral Lady – WIP, Jacquelyn Block

Today I had quite a few pieces ready and waiting for me that have gone through the bisque firing, and needed to be glazed. My flowery face was the most time consuming piece of the evening, followed by the gear wall hanging.

Gears – WIP, Jacquelyn Block

For the face, I used various colors of underglaze to color the various elements. The gears I first added a layer of white underglaze, followed by a few coats of Ironstone. I’m hoping the combination of these two gazes will give an interesting effect. I can always add paint after if I don’t get the results I want from the glaze fire.

It was a good night for me and a nice way to finish off this session. I have a lot more glazing to do , I’ve been stacking bisques pieces on my shelf for a while. Some of them are probably several years old. I foresee many more glaze days in my future.

Is there a step in your art practice where you develop a backlog of work in progress pieces?
