Flowers, Jacquelyn Block

Today was a nice day outside, but inside my house was nearly 80 degrees. My medicine is making me even more sensitive to the heat than I usually am, so I figured I’d work on a loose floral painting so I can spritz my self as well as the paper to help cool myself down before starting. I had the paper pretty wet where I wanted, but as I started painting The water was evaporating in the hot house faster than I anticipated. So the technique wasn’t quite what I was going for originally. But at least they are identifiable as flowers.

I probably should start painting earlier in the day, but I keep finding myself so busy I don’t have time until the end of the day when everyone else in my family has gone to bed. Today I went to another of the film events for the Unlocking Desire film that is being made by local filmmaker, Barbara Neri. I went to the previous event at the scarab club a couple months ago with my mom and when I saw they were having another event near me, I invited my friend along. I am really looking forward to seeing this film when it’s completed. It’ll be interesting to see how it changes from the clips we previewed to the end product.

Are there any projects from local artists that you’ve been following, or anticipating the finished product?
