These purple columbine caught my eye the other day on my way to drop off my kindergartner at school. On the way back to my car I snapped several photos of them. While I love columbine and every spring I take photographs of the fascinating blooms, this is my first time painting them. These particular flowers are the purple variety, but when I go up to Oscoda for Memorial Day weekend, hopefully the pink ones will be in bloom. They usually are all over camp that time of year, but with the warm winter they may have gotten off to an early start.
