Today I had an idea pop into my head. I was thinking that it would be neat to paint some flowers in shadow in a dark color and then paint either the same type of flowers or a different variety in front in gold.

So tonight that is what I decided to experiment with in my daily painting. I just used a 4×6 hot pressed paper for this experiment, but I can see myself trying it on my standard 8×10 cold press. It will have a different look on the more textured paper but I think it is worth experimenting some more. I decided for tonight to stick with a simple leaf design to try out the technique. Sometimes when I think of an idea in my head it doesn’t translate to reality very well, but in this case it’s pretty much exactly what I was imagining.
