So many fish flies, Jacquelyn Block

So today was a wonderful and exhausting day. We celebrated my amazing daughter’s graduation from high school and community college concurrently. I am beyond proud of her.

Brag board

I worked on this brag board in the wee hours this morning, only to realize my removable tape was already at my mom’s where we were having the party. I snapped a picture so I could attempt to recreate it on location. Once at the party I was so busy with hostess duties I didn’t have a chance to take any photos, but luckily my friend did and will share them with me. Which has the bonus of having me in some of the shots, too! Often I’m the picture taker of the family so I don’t appear in the photos from countless events.

White Peony, Jacquelyn Block

My mom’s neighbor has such beautiful gardens I couldn’t help but take a few pictures of her flowers yesterday when we were setting up. This one is my favorite from the bunch. I think I’ll print it out in a large format.

In the morning I picked up smoothies for the family to start us of with something in our stomach which would calm my daughters nervous stomach and give a healthy base for us to start with before my kids parked themselves in front of the chocolate fountain. (It was a good call, my six year old availed himself of the fountain for much of the afternoon. I think he had more sugar today than any other day of his life.) When I arrived at the shop the fronts of the shops were coated in fish flies. Living in Michigan, we get these guys every year. The more fish flies that are around indicates a healthy lake, so it’s a nuisance with a good reason. Some years they have caused car accidents due to how slick the fly covered roads can get.

Have you ever seen a fish fly (or mayflies as the rest of the world calls them?)
