What’s the Buzz?, Jacquelyn Block

For most of today’s Zoom with June, I was working on Art Show business, but I finished what I needed in enough time to pull out the charcoal set I got from my latest Sketchbox subscription. While I enjoy charcoal, and I love the work of the super talented artists who specialise in this medium, I don’t use it that much. I am not the neatest artist and with charcoal I feel like I get it everywhere. But it was handy and I didn’t have a lot of time to be choosy, so I rolled with it. I like how it came out, but I might go back and add some lighter values on the petals before I seal it.

After the Zoom, I was busy zooming all around getting the printing and refreshments and other necessities ready to go. Then it was time to leave to help set up. Many hands helped make set up run smoothly and we even had a few minutes to sit and chat before everyone started to arrive. Then it was mingling and chatting until announcement time.

My son really liked that Antonio was at a perfect height for him. He would periodically walk over and give my sculpture a hug. It really was adorable. He took pictures of me with Antonio, mimicking the way I take a few different shots and angles. What a cutie. I am happy to share that this sculpture won an Outstanding award tonight. Although he has been accepted into a few shows this year, this is his first award. I am very happy.
