Tonight I decided to play around with my charcoals a little more and opted to do a self-portrait to practice drawing faces. I think it looks like me, but I’ll wait to see what my family thinks. They are often more critical of my self portraits than I am. I really am liking the grey toned paper. It seems to be easier for me to work on than white.
Earlier today, I dropped off the piece that was accepted into the Kaleidoscope show in Pontiac. I looked around at the other artwork that had been dropped off and it’s going to be a really interesting show. I can’t wait for the opening. This is my first LGBTQ+ show and I am loving all the wild and weird and colorful art. I think I found my people! I do love making weird art. Most of it doesn’t fit with the shows I usually enter so I look forward to having a potential place to display them in the future.
Do you make art that is a little,or a lot, off the mainstream?
