Today was the kickoff of the Summer Reading program at our public library. In honor of the start to our reading commitment this summer I made a pair of bookmarks for my son and I to use. We got home his first library card today and he was excited to check out his first book on his very own card.

In addition to the kids challenge, there is an adult one too. I read the instructions for the adult program which credits an entry for each adult or ya book completed or 5 books read aloud to a child. My son was so excited to help me get that first entry. I may have no voice for the rest of the summer at this rate! But, whatever it takes to inspire our young reader, right?
