Gear Face 2, Jacquelyn Block

Today was our last Wednesday night pottery class at Anton. Our pottery teacher and friend is opening her own studio and I will be following her there. I am excited for the change- I really needed a kick in the pants to get the unfinished pieces off my shelf. Some had been there for at least three years.

I had several little animal figurines ready to take home as well as my latest Gear Face sculpture. I left the gold wax finish at home so I finished that up when I got back. It really makes the piece, having the gold on it, I feel.

My round 2 screenplay in the NYCMidnight competition didn’t advance me to the finals. It’s not all bad as I already have two events on Saturday and I wouldn’t have had the time necessary to devote to it. Instead I can focus my attention on the Production 101 workshop with the Detroit Narrative Agency. I’m really looking forward to learning and networking with fellow filmmakers. Then it’ll be off to Pontiac for the opening of the Kaleidoscope show at the Pontiac Creative Art Center in the evening where my ceramic sculpture Unity is on display.

What exciting events are filling your schedule this weekend?
