Today was a great day, and I am exhausted. I spent most of the day in a Production 101 workshop taught by Paige Wood through the Detroit Narrative Agency. It was a great experience and my notebook is overflowing with information. I feel energized and excited to work more on developing my screenplays with an eye towards actually filming them. An eight hour workshop packed with information may not seem like something that would make the process seem achievable, but it did!

I drove directly from the Wayne State campus in Detroit to Pontiac to attend the opening reception for the Kaleidoscope show at the Pontiac Creative Arts Center. I entered my family portrait sculpture Unity which was inspired by the sculptures of the late Detroit artist Charles McGee. I was honored to be included amongst some really fantastic pieces of art by local LGBTQ artists.
Once I finally got home tonight I had dinner and attempted to paint in the dark living room as my son had fallen asleep on the couch. I just decided to play around with colors shapes and textures, so I wouldn’t have to disturb him. He was sick yesterday and spent the majority of today resting and recovering. Tomorrow I have the Artist to artist event at the GPAA for artists in the Ode to Mother Earth Show. The last A2A was great and I am looking forward to another good opportunity to network and learn from my fellow artists.
What have you learned lately, either from a class or on your own?
