Fourth Lights, Jacquelyn Block

Today, being the eve of July 4th, didn’t lend itself well to my getting set up to paint. With fireworks going off, a husband who doesn’t need to get up early in the morning tomorrow, and an excited 6 year old , there were way to many distractions to painting. Instead, I moved the blanket paper from my lap and opened up photoshop to play around with some digital art.

I started with the picture of my watercolor and ink painting from last month and ran it through various filters and composited it with a picture I took of some fake coral in a fish tank. I like how these turned out, but I really liked the fireworks overlay on my selfie. I may use that as my profile pic for tomorrow, in honor of the fourth.

I received the shipment with the print I ordered for the Art of Abstraction show. These pieces from Mpix.com were far better packaged than the last prints I ordered from a more local shop, which arrived in a bent envelope. Generally speaking, I prefer to shop locally, but price, quality and delivery speed make that a challenge. I had a coupon for 50 percent off and that helped keep the price reasonable, too. Since I had the coupon, I also ordered a 16×20 of my Fin de L’Été. I sold the 8×10 print last summer, but I wanted to see it bigger. I’ll try entering it in another show soon. Maybe the artist choice show at Anton.
