This morning during our zoom session I decided that I wanted to paint some buildings. I was drawn to this picture I took in Greektown, while catching dinner before seeing a show with my friend. I used some making fluid for the lights strung across the street and then started to sketch around the drying fluid. I probably should have sketched first if I wanted it more accurate to the photo, but I was too impatient to start I guess. I’m still experimenting with the masking fluid and am not used to planing for it yet. This is my first attempt using it in a scene rather than in an abstract way where going in without a plan is just fine.

My street ended up a little wider than in the photo, but the buildings look pretty good. I really need to work on my cars, though. It reminds me of the painting of the streets of Paris that hung in my grandparents living room.
Do you like urban scenes or landscapes better?
