When I was out walking yesterday, I passed by a huge Rose of Sharon bush and stopped to take some pictures. It is beautiful in full bloom.

I think I may use it as my next orange ink painting, but today I felt like trying to paint them loose. I find loose painting to be somewhat challenging- getting enough detail to capture the essence of the subject, without getting bogged down in the details. I can tell I’m improving though with practice. I get nervous splattering paint on it when I’m done. I like the effect, but I’m always afraid I’m going to ruin the painting.
