Day Lilies 2, Jacquelyn Block

I decided to revisit my day lily painting from yesterday. While I liked it, it took me a lot longer to paint it than I wanted for a loose watercolor. So tonight I painted the day lilies again, this time using my painting from yesterday a a reference instead of my photo. I think I did a better job on the vibrancy and contrast in my second attempt. I, also, did paint it faster, in spite of a few distractions thrown my way.

Side-by-side comparison

I am happier with the second painting. It’s still not exactly how I was visioning it yet, so I may do a few more, for practice. At least until I’m board with this composition and am ready to move on to the next thing.

Do you repaint a subject if it wasn’t quite what you had envisioned for your painting?
