Today was my first day working in the new clay studio. I stopped by to visit on Monday and drop off some shelves my husband made yesterday, but this was my first day working with clay. I realised that most of what I was thinking I’d work on today would have to wait until I bring the rest of my tools over from Anton. So I fell back to some of my old stand by projects to get me making things. While I was waiting for my face to set up a bit, I made a pear and a succulent. Then I made a little hedge hog with some scraps.

Since my stamps and gear cutters were not with me, I made a new style of face with some random stuff in the bottom of my tool bin. I think it may look neat once it’s glazed and gilded. I still had some time when these were done so I made a mushroom and started a baskety bowl, which likely won’t survive to fire.
A pretty productive first day back after a few weeks off- especially considering I was still getting my bearings in the new studio.

Tomorrow is the reception for the Posterity Gallery Show in Grosse Pointe. If you are one of my local readers, I encourage you to stop by and check out our show. We have some amazingly talented artists in our club, and this show looks fantastic. I am also dropping off a photograph to the Paint Creek Art Center for the Art of Abstraction show opening soon.
What accomplishments do you have to share?
