Today I had a question about the type of ink I used in my last painting and it got me thinking whether a ol’ ball point pen would work under watercolor. I happened to have my red editing pen handy – a PaperMate Profile Ball. I made some geometric shapes freehand and started to paint. The red ink stayed right where I put it with no bleeding. If anything it seemed to very slightly resist the watercolor.

We had our Reception for the Lakeside Palette Club at Posterity Gallery this afternoon. It’s a really great show, so make a point to stop by if you can. It is on display through the end of July. A good number of the pieces are for sale; consider supporting a local artist!
Have you noticed certain pens either performing well or bleeding when adding water media over the top?
