Today I had a question about the type of ink I used in my last painting and it got me thinking whether a ol’ ball point pen would work under watercolor. I happened to have my red editing pen handy – a PaperMate Profile Ball. I made some geometric shapes freehand and started to paint. The red ink stayed right where I put it with no bleeding. If anything it seemed to very slightly resist the watercolor.

Have you noticed certain pens either performing well or bleeding when adding water media over the top?
