Today started off rainy, but fortunately the weather cleared up for the afternoon and we were able to enjoy the paint-out at the Edsel and Elenor Ford Estate. I got some great photos from the gardens and along the trail around Bird Island. We stopped and painted along the shore overlooking the cove. It had started getting hot and muggy, but we found a nice spot in the shade to paint.

I continued my pattern of painting across both pages of my watercolor notebook, as I did for our paint-outs at the zoo and Belle Isle.

In addition to my plain-air painting, I got several photos which may make good watercolors over the next few days or weeks. Every year after the paint-out here I tell myself I need to come back to paint here more often. This time I got a membership so I have to come regularly to make it worth the investment.
Do you enjoy taking your art practice outside, or do you prefer to work in your studio?
