So as promised is yesterday’s post, I painted a picture inspired by one of the flower photographs I took yesterday at the Ford House Paint-out. The thistle really grabbed my attention, but I decided to use it as an inspiration, rather than paint it directly from the photograph. I added a couple buds about to bloom to make the composition a little more interesting.

I don’t have pink or purple in the palette I’m using so I mixed my own. My painting is more purple than pink, but purple is my favorite color and when I close my eyes and picture thistle flowers they are always purple in my mind’s eye.
