Visiting the Joe-Pie Weed, Jacquelyn Block

I was originally thinking about painting a bridge from my recent trip to Albany for today’s artwork, but I have had a headache that has slowly been building since this afternoon. When I sat down to paint it was bad enough that I didn’t want the challenge of painting all those straight lines so I opted for another photo that I had set aside to paint. I have painted a few bee painting in the past, but usually with coneflowers.

Garden Walk 2022 Joe-Pie and Bees, Jacquelyn Block

This picture had a bee approaching some Joe-Pie weed blooms. I took about thirty or so pictures of the bees around the Joe-Pie that day, because they were so attracted to the blooms. I like the feeling of movement with the bee mid flight, beginning to curl in for landing.

How might bees influence your creativity today?
