The color of Sci-fi exhibition this year is focusing on the characters of Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) and Lieutenant Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols.) Deep Space 9 is my favorite Star Trek series so I want to enter a portrait into this show.

I chose the scene from the episode “In the Pale Moonlight,” where he is recording his personal log, before deleting the whole entry. This was an intense and thought provoking episode for me when I watched for the first time all those years ago.

I spent way more time working on this painting than I had intended for a first try. I think I ended up overworking it a bit, but I like the idea of this painting.
