Better together, Jacquelyn Block

This morning was our club’s Zoom with June, and I was chatting with my fellow artists while flipping through my photos to pick what to paint today. One of the gals mentioned she was going to work on her swan painting just as I was flipping by one of my swan photos. I figured it was kismet. Sometimes I struggle with getting the feeling of depth in my paintings, but I thought this was one of my better attempts. I also have been seeing improvement on my painting of water. Even just last year that was a big challenge for me.

I was so involved in this painting I continued to work on it after the zoom had ended. At least until my son gave me his approval that I was finished, because he was ready to go to the library. He did like the painting of him that I finished last, with only one minor critique. My husband thought does NOT like it. He says it’s creepy, and looks like an old man with 5 o’clock shadow. I really should keep tract of all my art he really hates so I can use it as an April fool’s day gag. I’m safe talking about my nefarious plans here since he doesn’t read my blog.

He did like the work of art I performed in the kitchen this evening. My son and I coined a new term – dinsert. Like brunch but for dinner and dessert. Of course this was breakfast for dinsert. Mochi pancakes with cherry topping and whipped cream with bacon on the side. I made my son’s into a face- he loved that almost as much as eating it.

I let fate choose my subject for painting today; how can you use the idea of kismet to inspire your creative pursuit?
