Today I decided to start working through my pile of unfinished art. It is getting quite large. This particular one just had some colors swirled around in a spiral. Lots of room to image up something. The lower part of the spiral looked like a road leading into a tunnel, so I used pencil to sketch in the path. Then I thought maybe trees along the sides of the path could make up the tunnel I was seeing. I really liked the idea of having a gnarly tree up front and it flowed with the outer spiral.

I painted the spiral so long ago I can’t remember what my original intention was, but this is a big improvement from when I left it before. It looks a little creepy so it’ll be good for Halloween in a couple months, or maybe I can use it for D&D sometime. I wonder what fiends are hiding in these woods.
How can you use the idea of taking the difficult path as a way to inspire you in today’s creative practice?
