Lacey Face, Jacquelyn Block

Today was a busy day in a busy week; decompressing in the pottery studio was just what I needed. I had a couple pieces I started last week that needed finishing up before they went in the bisque kiln.

Square coil swirl bowl, Jacquelyn Block

I was concerned my bowl might have dried too much over the week, but fortunately my fears were unfounded. I had wrapped it better than I remember. I was able to clean it up and ad definition to the coils now that it was leather hard.

I also had left my abstract pear sculpture to dry with newspaper crinkled inside. I was able to extract it without damaging the pear. The greenware managed, I turned my attention towards the bisqued pieces ready to glaze. I spent the rest of the evening working on glazing. It can be the most time consuming part of the process for me. I was able to glaze most of my pieces, leaving only two left for the next visit.

Today was very productive and I got a lot of pieces ready to move on to the next step. Remember if you have used a prompt from the end of my August posts I’d love to hear about it.

For today’s inspirational question, what do you see when you look at a face with the eye of an artist?
