Today the kids were in bed early so I got an early start painting. I figured it was the ideal opportunity for me to paint the iris picture I took at the zoo earlier this summer. There is a show coming up soon that is calling for art inspired by famous artists. This was the first thing that popped into my mind to try. I love Van Gogh’s paintings and we had an amazing opportunity to experience them in person at the DIA last year. If you ever get the chance to see his work in person you should definitely visit.

This painting took quite a while, as I needed to let the paint dry between steps. I’m happy with how it turned out, whether or not it is accepted into the show. I need to get up and stretch because I was hunched over my paper for so long. In addition to this painting I am considering painting a Caravaggio inspired painting and creating a Marisol sculpture. But not tonight- I’m ready for bed.
