Artist Cubed, Jacquelyn Block

Today I spent most of my creative time working on a short screenplay for a challenge that was due tonight. I finished in time to submit, but not enough time to get feedback from my usual group of beta readers. It was a really busy week and I didn’t have as much time to sit and write as I would have liked, but all the things I was doing were important too. Sometimes getting things done in times of adversity is enough. It was nice to have this challenge as I really could use practice and feedback on my scriptwriting and this provides both.

Since I took so much time up on the script, I decided to work smaller for today’s painting and used a 4×6 block of Cansons cold press for a cubist self portrait. As I am still working on art for the My masterpiece show, I figured channeling my inner Picasso was in order for the day.

My family does not love my cubist paintings so I don’t think this will get a lot of love, but I like the purple hair and glasses. I don’t know if I have done glasses in a cubist painting before. I like it. I think it makes it me.

What ways can you use cubism as inspiration for your creativity today?
