Hares Before the Storm, Jacquelyn Block

Today was the deadline for the Brown Bag show, and I worked on finishing my application this morning. I won’t know if I got in until the end of the month. I submitted two ceramic pieces and a watercolor for the food themed show.

Time flew by and before I knew it it was time to meet my son’s bus, so I took a watercolor paper and multiliner with me and sketched a couple of hares. I really liked how they looked so I decided to finish them with watercolor this evening, after getting home from the Art Takeover kickoff in Grosse Pointe. My art is in the Posterity Gallery on Kercheval, so stop by and give it a vote- the artist with the most votes will get a solo show.

Quick sketch while waiting for the bus, Jacquelyn Block

As per my usual I spent a bit more time than intended on this painting. I decided to make it a bit dark and stormy, the one hare is hopping towards shelter while the other is just paralyzed in place. This morning we had a family poetry reading/ critique and I was thinking of poems that might go with this painting. It still needs work but I’ll share it when I’m finished.

I really embrace the multi-hyphenate creative practice that I have; what are some of your diverse artistic interests?
