Ghost Freighter Off Course, Jacquelyn Block

It has been a while since I have played around with combining my photos and paintings in photoshop, and today was the perfect day for revisiting this. I have been struggling with my asthma since breathing in a bunch of cigarette smoke while dropping my son off at the bus stop. I still feel like a helpless kid when a smoker feels entitled to make me suffer. And she was like five feet upwind off a bus load of kids! Ugh. The looks I got for coughing and wheezing. Like I’m being the dramatic one. Ugh. Ok. Rant over.

So back to my composite, I took a picture of this freighter sitting in the Detroit River. I then chose a watercolor from a couple months ago and the abstract from yesterday and played around with the layers until I got this. I feels like a haunted freighter. And the abstract painting overlay feels like a nautical chart. So I’m thinking lost ghost freighter.

I like it, but I’m also oxygen deprived so please tell me what you think of this composition. I’m hoping tomorrow will be a better day for me. I had a long to-do list for this morning that I had to abandon to recover. I’m hoping to play catchup tomorrow.

How do you keep up your creative practice on days you are feeling under the weather?
