September Dandelions, Jacquelyn Block

The weather is definitely cooler this week than last, but still warmer than usual this time of year. Even with the warmer air, the shortening days are starting to turn the leaves into their autumn beauty. Still, flowers bloom in gardens on the way to and from the bus stop enjoying the lengthened summer weather.

Fallen autumn leaf in a summer bloom, Jacquelyn Block

My neighbour’s flowers had caught one of the falling leaves and I snapped a picture of it this morning. I liked the play between the two seasons.

I received a fourth place for the short script I entered in the August ink 2 screen contest. That means I won my entry fee back. Tomorrow I’ll receive the feedback on the script. I am glad I did so well on the first of these contests I entered. I signed up for the October short feature contest; 30 days to write up to 60 pages. It will be my longest script to date. A good kickstart hopefully to get my other projects into gear, too many ideas I have stuck in the outline phase.

These contests help motivate and focus me with their deadlines and constraints; how do you use these things in your creative process?
