Today was the opening for the My Masterpiece show at the Grosse Pointe Artist Association. I have two pieces in this show, a Georgia O’Keefe inspired Watercolor and a ceramic face sculpture inspired by the plaster cast faces of Marisol Escobar.

This evening I decided to paint some apples and honey for the Rosh Hashanah holiday next week. Last year I gifted my friend who hosted a ceramic apple. This year I thought a watercolor would be nice. This is a practice painting for the one I’ll make for her. She reads this blog regularly so I won’t post the real deal until after she gets it in person.
I like how the green apple turned out in this painting but the red definitely needs work. I think I’ll try a different shade of red paint for it as well. This one seems to pinkish.

I also took my pictures of the heron sculpture as I promised yesterday. I am very pleased with how it turned out. I’ll have to enter this in a show soon.
I cut up three apples this afternoon to take some reference photos. They were delicious plain, but they are good dipped in honey too.
How do you like to eat fresh apples during the fall months?
