Bosc Pear on Cloth Napkin , Jacquelyn Block

I am down to my last pear from the farmer’s market. It is still pretty firm today so I may get one more modeling session out of it before I eat it. I was debating getting more this morning, but this week is going to be filled with apple-y desserts for Rosh Hashanah as well as birthday sweets for my son. I will hopefully be able to get some more next weekend.

I sketched out the pear from my model, and blocked in the pencil color, then today I activated it with watercolor paint rather than just water. It worked just as well for this painting and saved me some time as I’m tired and want to get to bed soon.

I received notice that two of my faces and two of my nesting nativity’s will be part of the Detroit Artist Market Holiday Market. This is a good way to dip my toes in the Holiday Market scene, as I am not a production artist and worried about having enough stock for these type of sales. I already have two of each of those on hand and ready to go, so no stress for me. Yay!

Do you make art for holiday shows, or purchase other’s art at these events?
