Looking Upward, Jacquelyn Block

Today marks the completion of three quarters of my goal of 366 days of art. While not always easy or convenient, sticking with this daily practice has noticeably changed my artworks. In addition to the noticeable improvement in my skills, it has also made me much more comfortable experimenting with various techniques and subjects. Further, It has allowed me the opportunity to develop several series of artworks that have taught me how to make unique artworks that are unified by a definitive element. Today’s work is another in that vein- a continuation of my experimentation using watercolor pencils. This piece was inspired by a photograph which I digitally altered a couple months ago.

At the end of the year when I have met my goal, and create new challenges for myself, I will continue to push myself to create and play daily. I know it’s early for most people to be contemplating their New Year’s resolutions already, but milestones like today start my gears moving.

What aspects of your creative practice could be better developed with a resolution for the new year?
