Grungy, Jacquelyn Block

As I write this my cat is snoring really loudly. It always amazes me how loud such a small creature is while asleep. But back to my drawing, today I was working with the Grungy prompt for Inktober, and having returned home from the pottery studio, my shoes seemed to provide the perfect model for my sketch. These shoes are so easy to slip on and off, they are my most worn footwear. I wear them everywhere and as such they have accumulated layers of paint and glaze and clay dust. Probably the grungiest thing I own.

And speaking of glaze and clay dust, my photo a day contributions were of today’s pieces from my studio time. I am finally caught up on my glazing! Yay! And I even had time to work on some hand building. I was going to do some more pinch pots but I had forgotten to trim my nails, so just played around and came up with a few vases and a flower. The last piece I did tonight was the ugly face vase. I love the idea so much I think I’m going to make a bunch of ugly faces. Maybe they will be white elephant gifts? It’s possible I’ll be the only one who loves them, but we will see.

What quirky thing do you like to make that raises others eyebrows?
