Today was our monthly meeting for the Lakeside Palette Club and after the business part of the evening we often have a demonstration. Today’s was on painting with gouache by our club member Cathy Huntoon. Cathy is an exceptional painter and I was very much looking forward to her demo. It was super informative and inspired me to play with some of my gouache paints tonight. Even with this quick attempt with only a few layers, I like it much better than previous attempts where I used these more in a watercolory transparenty way.
I still have a lot of room for improvement, and should probably invest in some larger tubes- mine are super tiny tubes, hence my previous attempts I was hesitant to use too much paint, undermining the opacity of this medium.
Until my new supplies arrive I probably should use smaller paper so I can get the coverage I need while not running out of paint.
Have you used gouache paints before?
