Portrait of a Man with Graves, Jacquelyn Block

Tonight I am back at the charcoal portraits. I used my first head sculpture as my inspiration for this piece. The sculpture is just the head, so I just added the neck and shoulders to ground this sketch a bit. I did this piece on the back of the mixed media piece with the purple and silver from the other day. I like this one much better than the scribbled mess of the reverse.

I did a painting a while back of my more recent sculpture head, Antonio. But I painted him as a bust, not like a person. I think I’d like to revisit Antonio in charcoal. He is on the top of my bookshelf, so I’ll need to move him down and sketch from the sculpture instead of a photo of it. Maybe I’ll do some of my ‘ugly face’ vases too. And then I probably should sculpt the clown I drew last Friday too. Plenty to keep me busy for a while.

Do you do multiple medium artworks of the same subject ever?
