I decided it was time to practice my holly painting, as I often use holly doodles on cards and gift tags. I tried out this new paper from my sketchbox kit that is made from sugar cane and cotton. It’s much lighter weight than the 300lb cotton that I am most accustomed to, but it wasn’t too bad since I used my water sparingly. I had a less than stellar experience with the same brand of agave paper, but I used a lot more water on that one. The paints I used today are by Beam and ate naturally pigment paint in a slice of birch branch. I love birch trees, and this is such a neat palette.

I think I’ll paint a bunch of Christmas cards with holly and other designs tomorrow for Zoom with June. Christmas is getting close and I hate feeling rushed right before the holidays.
What are some of your favorite designs for holiday cards?
