Three Graves, Jacquelyn Block

In the next few weeks I have several entries to prepare for upcoming shows. As I know myself, if I wait to the last minute in this busy season, I will run out of time and just not submit any entries. Last year I did alright managing my entries, and this year I am trying to set myself up for success, as well. I intend on submitting entries for the Space and Sky group show, the Michigan Annual, the My Team show with the GPAA and applying for the Kresge Fellowship in literary arts.

My Filtered Light series has been generating a good amount of comment within my circles so I think I’ll enter one into the Michigan annual. I am also thinking about entering the Old Man with Graves paired with the charcoal portrait, and perhaps a filtered light take as well as a poem. Sometimes the judges for that show like something a bit different. I already wrote a poem for him, so I’d just need to decide how to present it.

I have an idea for one of my entries for Sky and space, but for the other I may choose one of the stormy sky photos either strait or with the filtered light take. The My team I’m still working out what I’d like to do. I don’t think I have much in the way of finished art that would fit the theme, so I’ll need to give myself time to work on those pieces.

It’s a lot to do, and I have a few screenplay ideas rattling around that want to be fleshed out. I need to stay focused on the projects with deadlines first- come end of January I’ll have a break from shows and can focus on writing more then.

What different creative projects are vying for your time and attention?
