Christmas Cactus in Filtered Light, Jacquelyn Block

Today after mass I was waiting in the gathering place, and saw that the Christmas cactus was in bloom. Some images we associate with certain people, and Christmas cacti do it for me. Father Jim would excitedly announce the blooming of the cactus every year. As I was taking pictures another parishioner voiced the same sentiment.

I enjoy the excitement of the Christmas season. My older kids helped decorate the church and set up the nativities. Since we were in no rush to leave straight after mass I was able to get some nice photos.

And notice how much bigger my son’s smile is when he poses with his sister. I love how much my kids love each other.

Christmas is so close now and then the new year right behind. This year’s goal for my daily art practice is nearly fulfilled and it’ll be time to concur new challenges. I am thinking of adding a daily writing practice to my continuing art practice. I hope to realize the growth I’ve seen in my artwork since committing myself to a daily practice. You all helped me along that journey by keeping me accountable, and I truly appreciate your support.

Are you considering adding a daily practice for your New Year’s resolution?
